Jen’s Thank You Alliance helps cancer survivors

It was Jennifer Pinnick’s dying wish to help young adult cancer survivors. She lost her own battle with stomach cancer in 2009, at the age of 29.

In her honor, Jennifer’s husband, James, started the organization she dreamed about. It’s called Jen’s Thank You Alliance. He says throughout her ordeal, Jen always said ‘thank you’ and showed her gratefulness to those who cared for her and supported her.

The organization’s mission to assist young adult cancer survivors ages 15-39 in finding financial, inspirational and educational resources needed from initial diagnosis, through continuing treatment & remission periods.

Jen’s Thank You Alliance offers a financial assistance package that helps young adult cancer survivors with their mortgage, rent, utilities, and medical insurance premiums.

Krista Schlenker, who is battling Stage 4 Breast Cancer that has spread to her liver, lungs and spine, says she barely has enough money for food and without the help from Jen’s Thank You Alliance she wouldn’t be able to afford the medicine she needs.

“When you carry that much stress it’s not good for you, when you’re trying to heal something, that’s so horrible inside of you,” she explains.

The organization also offers an inspirational package which provides inspirational books, DVDs, music and bibles.

Jen’s Thank you Alliance survives on public donations and grants. Right now, it has a waiting list of survivors who need assistance
